The home-owning couple of Quintessentially Unadorned, who spend most of their time overseas, desired a simple and uncluttered living space during their short stays in Taiwan. Hao-Lin Yang, a renowned designer known for his modernist approach and meticulous attention to detail, took on the challenge of creating an ambience that is unembellished yet inviting, neat yet mellow.

The lower level of the mezzanine serves as the public area, featuring light wooden tone walls complemented by metal accents that divide the space and add a touch of modernity. The alternating gray marble and wood flooring, combined with varying heights in different sections, delineate distinct functionalities within the open-concept layout.

One of the standout features of Quintessentially Unadorned is the greenhouse, converted from two bedrooms. This Zen-inspired oasis incorporates natural lighting, paved tablets, gravel flooring, and lush vegetation, creating a tranquil atmosphere. The multi-functional lounge room, separated by sliding doors with wooden grilles, is adorned with Japanese-style tatami mats and hardwood furniture, offering a comfortable and relaxed way of daily living.

The upper level of the mezzanine houses the master bedroom, a living room, a multi-functional lounge, bathrooms, and a vista section. The minimalist layout, combining modernist and natural elements, provides ample unadorned space, allowing for a laid-back and enjoyable lifestyle. The master bedroom, with its large windows, offers the luxury of waking up to the soft morning sunlight.

One of the design's highlights is the unique spiral staircase at the end of the entryway. Its perfectly proportioned curve and transparent glass handrail not only serve as a functional element but also become a focal point, dividing the interior into distinct areas. By carefully positioning furniture and minimizing clutter, the design maximizes natural light penetration and creates a harmonious connection with the surrounding environment.

Quintessentially Unadorned is a testament to the joy of simple living in an urban setting. Hao-Lin Yang's masterful blend of modernist design principles and natural elements has created a space that exudes elegance and tranquility.
